Would you wear your costume out?
Haven't done discussion entries like this in a while but this is pretty interesting. So recently, I was craving for some cool bubble tea and decided to pop into the nearest store to get my craving fixed. What greeted me as soon as I stepped in was this….
.
.
.
.
Spotted wallie xD?
Which reminded me of this picture a friend sent me ages ago.
Gakupoid much ?
And she couldn't stop expressing her disbelief while filling me with details of how everyone was gawking at the girl.
So opens the question, would you wear your costumes (wigs, clothes, boots etcs) out for NON cosplay purpose? Has anyone tried it before? How did it felt? What made you feel like wearing it out?
Personally, I haven't done it much. Except for maybe, wearing a casual portion of the costume before or after the photo shoot/event. But I usually do that for convenience sake. It would be really cool if your costume had certain parts in them that would look blend in as a fashion accessory.
But personally, I haven't come across any costume that would escape looking awkward in the crowds of normal humans except for maybe NaNa. So, unless you can really work the outfit, I don't recommend wearing your costumes out for normal usage. Not so much of a '” it’s spoiling the character!” reason but because... it is usually a fashion disaster =/
But that's just me. How do you feel? Hmm... okay, on second thoughts... I think I might have been guilty of this act too.
My most notable achievement was going out in my almost full Kinomoto Sakura movie 2 costume to catch a bus to some event. Can't remember what event that was.
Went home in this 2 uniforms before because I was too lazy to change out.
And going home after AFA 2009 with my hot pink jumper because I couldn't bear to change out >w<. It's like parting with a friend. And yes, I went for dinner in that disgusting hot pink.
Which begs the 2nd question, do you ever feel like you want to continue wearing your costumes even after the event ends? I always feel like this whenever I'm late turning up for events xD I think its because I don’t want the dream and fun to end and I haven’t had enough fun!
What do you guys think? Do you think wearing a part of your costume out for non-cosplay reason is commendable? Or do you disagree with that? Leave a comment and tell me please D: !
Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to put the above 2 ladies down. Neither am I implying it is wrong to wear your costume out, because what you wear is your own style. I’m not about to teach people what to wear BUT, personally, I wouldn’t want to wear my costumes out. Because they usually stick out TOO MUCH and I like keeping a low profile. And also because I have many nice clothes to wear so yeah =P

Bubbly start for the new year
I have already written about next year’s cosplay plans in few posts, so I'm going to leave them out. Currently we are trying to choose the conventions to attend to. There seems to be too many of them! I'm worried that our usable costumes run out before the events do. It's not a big deal in a way; we like to re-use our costumes, but they just seem to be quite hot to wear at summer conventions. I don't know how we survived last Tracon with Joxter and Muddler.
Back to bubbles or Bubbles more specifically. We got the idea of dressing up as the Powerpuff Girls years back with my friends, when someone stated that we were just like them. We are almost the same height and our hair colors match the characters. When we realised we were going to attend to party themed superheroes, we didn't need to think twice. Because we only dressed up for home party, I took the freedom to buy the cheapest fabrics. I ended up in basic sheet cotton 1 meter per dress. One dress cost about 7 euros. The dresses are not exactly like the original ones. I altered them to look like 70's mod dresses. Also everyone decided on their own what kind of belt and stockings to wear. I was bit hesitant with the role of the cute and weepy one, but gladly these few photos prove that it was somewhat achievable. The pics are published with the permission of the photographer.

JUST KIDDING! Like I’d have $2000 to spare =(
But you gotta admit, that advertisement above sure looks legit! And no, its not some Photoshop wonders. It is just the awesome marketing tools Nokia’s OVI Wizard is providing to help us Indie (LOL) App owners/creators promote our apps. And yes of course, if you click on that advertisement above, it’d link you to the Ovi Store’s TCC app page =)
I have a whole list of different banners to choose from xD
You guys should totally try out Nokia’s Ovi App Wizard, its an App creating platform for you to create apps for yes, free =D. This is not an advertorial or what not, I was just playing with my account and found this cool feature. Which seriously, was too cool not to share xD

Official launching and the worse ever ...
Remember this entry a few weeks ago? I asked you guys to select a banner and icon and I'm finally ready to reveal its purpose!!
Yes, I went with the majority’s vote and it was Shana all the way.
Yes! The Cosplay Chronicles has gotten it’s own mobile application! Its an Ovi app so my apologies to iPhone users out there ^^; Click on the link below to download the mobile app.
TCC's Ovi Mobile App: http://tinyurl.com/tcc-app
I apologies for the insanely BAD beat box, or rather, attempt at beat box. I am bad, Bad, BAD at it, and I don’t deny. I mean, I’m so lousy at making sounds I can’t even whistle!! And I have friends who do imitations so well while I am totally mute=_=. Yes, I am just a talentless b*tch T_T. I have no idea why I thought I can conquer it with hardcore video editing. But as it turns out, you need to be musically (or at least with beats) inclined to edit a beat box video. Let’s just say Arashi i is deceiving. Yes, Kaika PHAIL much!
Nevertheless, I hope you guys liked the video and had fun laughing. Don’t forget to pop over to the ovi store to download TCC’s mobile app and that's all folks! My first day of the new year was pretty crappy but I hope yours was great ^_^
EDIT: I just realise I ought to explain what the app does. Alright, It’s really just a much more mobile platform compatible version of the blog. Makes reading the blog a little easier and you don’t have to scroll left and right to see everything xD.

Kaika in Cosplayland (2010 recap)
Click on the picture to see the details and read the dates XD!
Because 2010 was such a wonderful Cosplay year for me, I decided to compile a list of the cosplay related stuffs I did this year. I know it's not the usual 'Costume portfolio' thing that other people do because I added 34394396482 other nonsense stuffs.
But that's really because each event/shoot meant something to me even if I was just a helper/spectator. It meant a day of my life spent with that specific group of people and getting to know each other.
You would notice I didn't have much costumes but more of event coverage, shoot helper and competitions. Yeah, I prefer to have fun enjoying cosplays than rush costumes hahah . Am lazy, yes.
HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE PEOPLE!
