Soy’B 2010! Photo Spammage!

Wheee! Soy’B is over before I realise!

Had to reach earlier due to my joining the Karaoke Competition, more talk about that in my next post perhaps. The day was very cursed for me. Not only did I left my home without my wallet (and thus having to waste time walking back for it) , I also forgot my extra camera batteries,SD Card and fake lashes. *palms forehead* I can’t even start describing how big a blunder that was. No wonder my make up case felt so light u_U Felt really awful without my fake lashes and had to literally cake my lids with black eyeliner and dark eyeshadows.

I’ll stop blabbering for now and go on to the photos!

Random updates!

Hi people!

The blog has been going a little slow recently and just thought I should update you guys a bit.

Work has resumed for me and I'm also working on this big cosplay project of my own thus the desperate lack of time. Those who follows me on Da would know of my recent tragic file lost. So, spent a lot of time fixing things up =(

Also, Soy'b is coming!!! I'll be joining the karaoke competition and singing a song very different from my usual range. So please support me alright??

I won't be doing serious cosplay this sat if anyone wanna know. In fact I don't even feel like cosing....yeah I'm in one of those dry season =/ but to join the mood I still will cos someone I guess, its now a choice between Suzumiya or Kyoko.


I have so much lined up for this blog!! Am working on an article about what cosplayers hates about photographer. Had hoped to get it out before Soy'b but I guess that won't be the case already T.T

And interviews with Kurohoshi's adorable Taiga, Reiko's droolicious Meiko plus the RAIDING of a cosplayer's room ! She's a gorgeous Singapore cosplayer famous for her attention to details and great portrayal. So yeah, you guys should totally stick around for them xD

I hope both the guy and the girls (yes, the little girls too =_= )learnt their lesson. See how much negative impact their little ‘plays’ have done to our beloved hobby ?

The media just needs one small glitch to blow things to national level. And all the hard work previously pumped in to portray Cosplay as a positive hobby (in Singapore) has gone down the drain. I just hope this won’t turn into some big “Anti Otaku” phenomenon. *sigh

World Cosplay Summit 2010 !!

 
Wow, things seem to be happening one after another in our tiny island! And for the better or for the worse, World Cosplay Summit for this year will kick start 2 months from now. Yes, the preliminaries are now in Mar!

We present to you the World Cosplay Summit Selection Rounds One!

Date: 27 March 2010
Venue: West Coast Plaza
Time: 1.00pm - 5.00pm

To thank all for your support for the World Cosplay Summit, the WCS will have 4 rounds
this year

1) World Cosplay SUmmit Selection Rounds Korea (West Coast Plaza, Singapore)
2) World Cosplay Summit Singapore Semi-Finals in Korea (WCS Korea, Korea)
3) World COsplay Summit Singapore Finals (Cosfest, Singapore)
4) Word Cosplay Summit Championship (WCS, Nagoya, Japan)

For the WCS Selection Rounds One at West Coast Plaza, the top 6 pairs selected will be sent to Korea for the WCS Singapore Semi-Finals. The date in Korea is 21st May-25th May 2010. Accomodation, meals and transport will be provided for.

This is a collaboration between SCC and the Korea WCS organiser to promote friendship and as a cosplay cultural exchange.

The stay in Korea is like a camp where we prepare the WCS contestants for their
competitions later.

Rules of entry

1) Only cosplays from Japanese Anime, Manga and Game is eligible.
As this is a special collaboration between WCS Singapore and WCS Korea,
Korean animation, comics and game characters are also permitted.

2) Only pair entries are eligible for this selection rounds

3) The pair must come from the same series

4) Please send all entries to wcs2010@cosfest.com
Please include the following details of both members in the pair
-Full Name(as in IC)
-Passport Number
-Mobile Number
-Msn

-Series
-Characters you want to cosplay

As a nice round off to the World Cosplay Summit Selection Rounds Korea in West Coast Plaza, there will be an anime band bringing to you a repertoire of anime and game songs!

Yeah, only 2 months to make costume, script the skit and practise for it @_@. But I guess in the long run, this timeline is actually more graceful. Because now, the Singapore finalist will get more time to pack and plan.

Even though, this also meant a much longer time commitment for the contestant. Whether you like it or hate it, this is the plan this year. Singaporean Strive on!!!!!!

Meeting Kaname!

Alright, obviously this is very back dated. Hadn't wanted to show you guys this but since it was requested so I …thought why not?
A few of our foreign friends who had came to Singapore for AFA were flying off the following Monday. Same day as Kaname. And if you're wondering how I knew.... Hehehe I have connections. *winks*

Bakkwas are my eternal lovessss

I have a strong sense of patriotism and really wanted our foreign friends to like Singapore plus bring back something to remember. So I bought them some cheapskate souvenirs and Bakkwas. I love Bakkwa! And all foreigners should try it xD it's very similar to beef jerky.

When we first got there I was told we can't meet Kaname anymore because they are tightening the security. And I was like , " Oh, guess I'll have to keep the Bakkwa  to myself then". But with the assistance of reiko dearest, we were given the chance to meet him for a short while. Whee!

Gotta give it to him (Kaname)  for being so professional and keeping up with his image. Look at how he's in full make up and wig attire! And this guy is boarding a 9hour plane flight in half an hour!!!

He was very very nice and all. Very accommodating and all servicing hahaa. I think he must be really used to all these fangirling xD

In this video, Kaname was signing his autograph for Ching but his trusty markers ran out of ink (too much fangirls xD! ) and so he told her to ‘wait for a while’.

After tama and Ching had their signatures it was my turn to pass him my gifts. I seriously ought to have taken a pic of those before passing him but.... That idea totally escaped my mind then. Anyway if you're curious, i got him a small pack of air compressed and individually packed pork Bakkwa . A pack of fried shrimp rolls and 3 postcards with images of famous Singapore tourist spots printed on it.


And to further address any curiosity, NO I DIDN’T write anything on those cards. No, I didn't put any additional kawaii notes/cards/emails either !!!!! *palms forehead*. Decadence was like asking me,  whether if I wrote anything on those cards and I was like

"eh O-o? But if i write he won't be able to use them already". 

And she totally gave me that silent stumped look. Epic failz Kaika is epic failz ... but that's me =/

Oh and of course, I got my chance to chat with him while I gave him my present. Much thanks to reiko for being my lovelllyyy translator. If it wasn't for her, nothing intelligible would be transmitted to our dear kaname san ToT.

I asked how was his impression of Singapore and was surprised to hear his immerse interest and fondness of the island. Apparently he really enjoyed his time in Singapore despite his water tight schedule and being too mobbed to tour the event halls. I’m guessing he wasn’t expecting such a warm welcome from the local cosplayers/media and probably didn’t expect such a tiny island to be overflowing with so much cosplayers/actions!

I’ll give it that most Japanese are just really nice and erm … politically polite. But I can sense the sincerity and enthusiasm in his replies so yeah, I think he really meant it ^_^. Guess we all did a fantastic job making our foreign guest feel welcomed huh ^_^! Now who said Singaporeans are unfriendly???!!!

He was very nice and thanked me for the gifts. Was really happy when his face lit up upon hearing that fried prawn rolls were among the gifts. Haha, seems like the Bee Cheng Hiang shop assistant gave me a very good  suggestion indeed xD

(OMG! Bee Cheng Hiang has online shop to sell these! They even have a FACEBOOK ACCOUNT !!! )

I had initially only gotten him and my thailand friends a small pack of Bakkwa each. But as I placed the packed Bakkwa into the bright yellow plastic bag … I just couldn't fight off the guilt of how pathetic it looked for a gift. And so I tearingly requested for the shop assistant to suggest me something affordable and suitable for a Japanese tourist. And according to her, their number one selling product to Japanese tourist were the fried prawn rolls. So I ordered a $5 pack lor.


Urgh, I digressed. This is not kaika's Bakkwa journey =_=. Gomen.

Anyway, kaname thanked me and invited me/us to visit his butler cafe if we ever visit japan. And mentioned briefly maybe AFA 2010 will have their butler cafe haaha. But nothing's confirmed and I'm just going to take that piece of news as hearsay =)

How to go Akibanana Maid Cafe (Singapore)

So I said I'll maybe try to take photos of the path to akibanana and …here they are! Was around the area today and managed to squeeze some time out of my schedule to take these. Am I dedicated or what xD!

To get there, you alight at the nearest MRT station, Tanjong Pagar MRT and turn left from the control station.

Go towards Exit A.

turn left from the control station.

You'll go up 2 escalators and exit from the station by turning left again.

Turn left out !

Follow the path and cross the zebra crossing.

Walk down the path with big trees lining the sides.

Continue walking down the path. At the direct front of the path (and you) is what looks like some HDB market and a very tall double tower condominium behind.

Turn right, following the path.

 

This is roughly the scenery you’ll see.

Walk down the path.

Continue to walk until you see some old shophouses.

Try to look out for the Neon Pink “Cola Spa” Signboard

 

And there it is! Nestled right in between The New Harbour Cafe and Cola Spa. Almost impossible to miss :D Just look out for the “Cola Spa” Signboard ^_^
