MYNT, Singapore’s first Anime girl group?

Okay, I have something not exactly cosplay related but still interesting nonetheless to share.  Introducing Singapore’s first Anime Girl group; MYNT (Miyake, Yoshimi and Tomomi).

Okay, maybe they’re not supposed to be anime group. But in my opinion they are pretty close =P Especially with their cosplaying and “Meido” background. Plus the fact that they are produced by Sozo who well, does events like AFA.

The group is made up of a trio of cute and young japanese looking babes (but totally made in Singapore hokays!)  From my understanding, all 3 of them were part of the Moe Moe Kyun maids during AFA2009.

I’ve heard about them talking about the group in their previous blog posts and etc but nothing beats having an official website to announce the official news(pun intended).

With such cute looking faces and overwhelming moe-ness oozing out of them, things sure look bright and sunny for them. The only thing they have to do now, is wow us away with their talents.

When a friend first pimped their website to me, he/she appeared very unimpressed. To which I asked, “ You don’t like them?”. And his/her answer was fabulously simple but totally relatable. He/She said “I don’t have any reasons to”

Haha, obviously words spoken with an intelligent mind and eloquence. I’m so not going to debate with a mind like that. Plus I’m sure this friend of mine is not alone in his/her opinion. Seems like MYNT will have a tough job of proving themselves. 

Ah, don’t take me wrong, I’m not against them. In fact, I’m somewhat rooting for them because I see the group as an amazing by-product of the prospering Cosplay and Anime community. Their existence is a concrete prove of the consumer power and liveliness of the local community. Well, I guess they also have their management company to thank too.

So yeah, I look forward to their PV and look forward to being wowed(hopefully?). Because ultimately, its still talent and entertainment that will win the hearts and loyalty of people.

Twitter ??

I don’t usually do Vlogs because I find it awkward to be rambling in front of a camera alone. But I’m here with one to ask a question.

Do you guys think I should start a twitter bar or something here on TCC? I find it weird to be sharing snippets of my life with people I don’t know and……….honestly I don’t know why people (except my personal friends) would want to read about my boring life.

Anyway I digressed again. I want to keep this blog as “Cosplay and Animanga” centric as possible so yeah…the tweets, if I ever start one, will still be very ‘cosplay’ centric. But I’ll prolly be talking about my own cosplay journeys/photoshoots/dressmaking journey etcetc. I dunno, I’m still having a very fuzzy idea about this whole thing.

Back in business

First things first… All the English readers this question is for you! Is it possible to eat a chocolate covered waffle with strawberries whole in one sitting by yourself? We thought that we have to try them while in London and possibly out of greed and gluttony bought one for each. That shall never happen again, trust me on that. It was really good, but not in big portions. So, are they meant to be shared? Next time we are going to split one and enjoy them with delight.

Now, back to business!

Because our first duo’s costumes are looking quite good, I think I can reveal that we are going to be Joxter (Juksu suomeksi, Joxteren på svenska) and Muddler (Hosuli suomeksi, Rådd-djuret på svenska) from Moomin in some summery convention. Ha-ha, I must say. We moved the completion of Snowtroopers to the fall because they would be hot to wear in summertime. Instead we are going to wrap ourselves in wool, leather, thick cotton and multiple layers of clothing. No mask is the best improvement I can think of.

Here are some pictures from the progress. The most interesting parts including Muddler’s “shoes” and headpiece are still under planning, but I think they’ll start to take form during this week. The real problem we are facing with these guys are their lack of carriage. We can’t possibly drag along a giant tin can, so we need to think something else. I suggested to Yoki, that she could carry a paint bucket, which would actually be a purse. We are still going trough Tove’s cartoon strips and books in hopes of finding some references. Hope we bump into something which would solve our problem. Moomin fans, suggestions are welcome.

K-On on Animax!

Wooo~ another cosplay baito!

I love cosplay baitos (part time) that provides free costumes (to wear, not take home =/) because they give me the opportunity to do characters I otherwise would never =3

And the series in focus today is K-on! Animax has launched 2 new series on their channel; K-On and Kaichou Meido. And we were gathered to help share the news.

Oh, and if you wanna flame me because you think I’m being a sell out. Go ahead. I don’t give a d*mn =)

The place of event was at The Padang. Sadly for us, it poured heavily in the morning so the field was really muddy when we reported for work. The mud was everywhere and moving around posed such a big difficulty. We were literally playing chess with the field (looking down  trying to figure out which is the least muddy place to step on). By the first hour, our shoes and socks were already very muddy.

But I guess we ought to be thankful that it didn't rain in the later half of the afternoon. Raining while we work would be even more FOL (=_=). The day was as usual, sunny and humid and we were sweating buckets in our blazer and stockings. Thankfully the material of the costume wasn’t too thick and the skirts were *cough* short enough to allow ventilation.

Too short, in fact, for the other 3 ladies especially poor cutepetz who towers above us all. It’s one of those rare times I feel secretly happy for being petite. And whenever the wind blew we would all be in a crazy chaos to hold our skirts down.

Okay, I exaggerated. We didn’t really get into that messy/fanservicey/embarrassing situations often. But not because the skirt wasn’t as short as I described but because … there WAS NO FREAKIN WIND! BLARDY HUMID CAN?!?!

But its a new experience to be giving out fans and flyers at a sports, hip hop and family oriented event instead of the usual Animanga events. A football tournament of some sort was going on there so we got to talk to some foreign athletics too.

Wearing a blazer and wig under the hot sun is bleah! Trying to get random people to accept our flyer was even more bleah!

I got told straight and angry in my face a big fat "NO!!" (no to the flyers) once. But i guess its my own fault for following other's instruction blindly. The couple whom I tried to approach were in the midst of some debate/ argument and I didn't really wanted to approach them.

But for some weird reason yuanie thought it was okay and 'suggested' I approach them. Yes, its a bloody stupid decision on my part oTL. Point to note, next time . . . believe in my own common sense =.="
